Boston Celtics: Kristaps Porzingis Sends Encouraging Message Amid Troubling Injury News Vs. Miami Heat
Jim Rassol-USA TODAY Sports

Things aren’t looking up for the Boston Celtics on the Kristaps Porzingis front. The All-Star big man was forced to exit Monday’s 102-88 victory over the Miami Heat in the second quarter due to a leg injury.

Porzingis was seen covering his head with his jersey out of frustration as he headed back to the locker room just before halftime, which could indicate that this isn’t a simple knock for the 28-year-old.

Boston Celtics News: Kristaps Porzingis in High Spirits

What makes this even worse is that it was a non-contact injury. Usually, injuries of these nature take longer to heal, which only means that the 7-foot-2 big man could be forced to miss time.

Porzingis couldn’t put much weight on his right leg as he headed back to the bench after sustaining the injury. This is a pretty terrifying sight for Celtics fans everywhere.

Porzingis showed some signs of life on social media after the win, though. He sent a special shootout to Derrick White, who exploded for a game-high 38 points in the win. Porzingis also thanked the fans for their concern:

It’s good to see Porzingis in high spirits, but until we get any information on the injury, the Celtics faithful will have no other choice but to hope and pray that this isn’t a serious concern.
